Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are set to make their move after Marseille striker Loic Remy was been told that he’s free to leave the club if the Ligue 1 side receives of a bid of £15 million for the French striker.

According to the Metro, scouts of all three clubs went to watch Remy in action as he came off the bench in Marseille’s 1-0 win over Montpellier at the weekend.

Loic Remy has been a long-term target of Spurs and Newcastle and earlier this summer it was thought that a concrete bid had been made for the 25-year-old, but that wasn’t the case.

However, expect a firm offer to be made for the French international in the coming week after Remy’s club Marseille indicated that they would accept a bid if the price was right, despite him being contracted to the club until 2015.

Remy was in top form last season, with the 6ft 4in striker netting 20 goals in 42 appearances and only missed out on a place in France’s Euro 2012 squad due to injury.

As for the potential suitors, Newcastle are looking for further competition for striking places, and while Andy Carroll remains a target, Remy offers a very interesting alternative.

If Senegal qualify for the African Cup of Nations, then Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse will be on their way to South Africa in January, potentially leaving only Shola Ameobi as a recognised striker.

As for Tottenham, despite the signing of Emmanuel Adebayor, he only has Jermain Defoe as competition for his place and you’d say that Spurs are favourites for the Frenchman’s signature.

However, you can never rule out Man City, especially when their manager Roberto Mancini has indicated he’s looking to bolster his star-studded squad.

Starting at £15m, let the bidding commence…
