Rennes midfielder Yann M'Vila With Tottenham Hotspur having failed to agree terms with Yann M’Vila, L’Equipe is now reporting that Newcastle United and Everton are closely monitoring the Rennes midfielder.

Yann M’Vila is one of the most courted central midfielders in the Premier League. Seen by Spurs as a potential replacement for Luka Modric, north London rivals Arsenal also think he could plug the hole left by Alex Song, with both departing to La Liga to Real Madrid and Barcelona respectively.

However, Tottenham failed to agree a fee for the 22-year-old with Rennes, and the Gunners’ interest seems to lie with Newcastle’s midfield as reported yesterday, so M’Vila could well come in as a replacement for Newcastle.

Rennes general manager Pierre Dreossi has said: ‘For the moment we have three offers.” Those three bids are thought to have come from Tottenham, Zenit St Petersburg and a third unnamed club, but Rennes are in no rush to sell the player who is contracted until 2015.

The Ligue 1 club have done their business the right way, bringing in Jean Makoun on a season-long loan just in case M’Vila was to depart, with Spurs and Arsenal left playing catch-up and filling holes.

Newcastle may well be forced to move for M’Vila if an offer that was too good to refuse came in for Cheick Tiote or Yohan Cabaye, while Everton are looking to replace Jack Rodwell.

One thing’s for sure, Yann M’Vila is a player in demand and the Frenchman could well be on his way to the Premier League before the summer transfer window shuts on Friday.
