The transfer of Mathieu Debuchy from Lille to Newcastle United looks certain to go through in the coming days, but the Magpies have lined up an alternative right back if they fail to sign the Frenchman – Eintracht Frankfurt fullback Sebastian Jung.
Newcastle’s pursuit of Lille right back Mathieu Debuchy has been a long one, but it does look like it will be fruitful after the Euro 2012 star stated his desire to come to the Premier League. However, it’s always a good idea to have a plan b and for the Magpies in their search for a new right back, that man is Sebastian Jung.
22-year-old Sebastian Jung currently plays his football in the Bundesliga for German club Eintracht Frankfurt. He has come through the ranks at Frankfurt, having played close to 100 games over the past three seasons in Germany.

Jung has also played 12 times for the Germany U21 side, with a call up to the senior squad surely not too far away, especially considering that Germany continue to play Manchester City reject Jerome Boateng in that position.
Sebastian Jung is rated in the region of £3 million, but it is being reported that Newcastle have been quoted £5 for the young German and will have to cough up that much if they want to get their man this summer as he’s contracted to Eintracht Frankfurt for another two years until 2014.
In some ways Newcastle do seem to have put all their eggs in one basket, which is fine if plan a comes off and Debuchy joins the Magpies before the start of the season, but for a plan b then Sebastian Jung seems like a decent prospect, even if he wouldn’t be an automatic starter.
