Lille defender Mathieu DebuchyThe chase for Lille defender continues to rumble on, with the Sun now reporting that Newcastle United and Chelsea have been quoted £8 million for the France international.

Despite France having a poor Euro 2012, which ultimately saw manager Laurent Blanc not having his contract renewed, right back Mathieu Debuchy impressed with his roaming runs down the right flank.

Having captured his former Lille teammate and good friend Yohan Cabaye last year and seen him take the Premier League by storm, the Magpies have made Mathieu their number one summer target.

Newcastle are thought to already have made a bid in the region of £5-6m for the 26-year-old, but will have to add a couple of million to that to get their man.

As for Chelsea, well they let Portuguese right back Jose Bosingwa leave in the summer and have rivalled the Magpies for Debuchy’s signature.

It looks more than likely that Debuchy will leave Lille and former Arsenal and France winger feels that it would be a good move for his compatriot.

Pires told Le 10 Sport: “His game suits the Premier League. He is fast and powerful. If I should advise him something, then it is to try his luck in England.”

Chelsea are likely to bow to Lille’s demands, but will Newcastle put their hand in their pocket and fork out as much as £8m for Mathieu Debuchy?

I wouldn’t wipe my A***e with The Sun , let alone believe anything it prints during the transfer season . It’s in the same boat as the Mail.
