Papiss Cisse - Senegal strikerI have been searching high and low for footage of Papiss Cisse’s goal for Senegal against Uganda in a qualifying match for the 2014 World Cup and as it turns out I shouldn’t have bothered!

Papiss Cisse has become renowned for scoring spectacular goals for Newcastle United, but I think it would be fair to say that his goal on Saturday wasn’t exactly a stunner.

Cisse gave Senegal the lead on the half-hour mark, when he slid in after good work from Copenhagen striker Dame N’Doye, who incidentally has also been linked with a move to Newcastle.

However, despite periods of Senegalese domination, they couldn’t hold onto the lead as Uganda were awarded a penalty in the final five minutes and in turn equalised from the spot.

Papiss Cisse can now finally take a break from football, with three international matches for Senegal following the end of the Premier League season.

However, it might not last that long, as Cisse has been linked with a place in the Senegal squad for the Olympics, which may prevent him appearing for Newcastle in their opening Europa League fixtures.

Anyway here are the highlights from the 1-1 draw between Uganda and Senegal in the 2014 World Cup qualifying match on Saturday.

Fast forward to 02:40 to see Newcastle’s Papiss Cisse sliding the ball in at the back post…

It certainly won’t be remembered alongside the likes of Cisse’s goals for Newcastle against Swansea and Chelsea, but they all count!
