Newcastle target Ola ToivonenNewcastle United are in talks with Ola Toivonen’s agent over a 10 million Euros deal for the PSV Eindhoven striker according to Voetbal International.

Swedish international striker Ola Toivonen started two of Sweden’s Euro 2012 matches but failed to add to his six international goals to date as he couldn’t find the back of the net against the Ukraine or France.

The 6ft 2in striker joined PSV in 2009 and has a goal scoring record not far off a goal every other game, having netted 35 times in 76 Eredivisie matches over the course of three seasons in Dutch football.

The 25-year-old is looking for a move to either the English Premier League or the German Bundesliga with both Newcastle and Borussia Mönchengladbach registering an interest.

It is being reported that Toivonen’s agent, Martin Dahlin, has negotiated with PSV for his client to be allowed to leave for 10 million Euros, which would be about £8m in English money.

This would probably be a bit pricy for Newcastle for a player of Toivonen’s calibre and they’d look to drive down the price of the Swedish striker with PSV and Dahlin.

As it happens, Martin Dahlin himself played in the Premier League in the 1990s for Blackburn Rovers and his sport agency MD Management also has fellow Swedish international and West Brom defender Jonas Olsson on its books.

Here’s ‘Swedish Sensation’ Ola Toivonen in action…

I’m not so sure about this guy, from some of the clips I’ve seen he’s a bit of a dirty player; diving and getthing other players to hit him so they get booked and things. He also appears a little lazy at times…do we need this type of player in our dressing room?

my sources in Holland say hes a bit crap..
and if my Math is correct hes not even a 13 goals a season striker so i cannot see this having any truth to it. at least i certainly hope not..
