Newcastle United can look back on the 2011/12 Premier League season with great fondness. While Champions League qualification proved to be just one step too far, Newcastle’s second season back in the top flight of English football saw them register a fifth-place finish in the Premier League.

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew masterminded some great victories, with the Magpies winning half of their Premier League matches and amassing 65 points along the way. There were plenty of great goals and some top quality performances and results over the course of the campaign.

Pardew’s men put in some excellent performances both at St James’ Park and on the road away from home in the Premier League last season. Only the champions, Manchester City, recorded the double over the Magpies, as Newcastle achieved victories against Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool amongst others.
