Newcastle’s nailed on signing already a member of the Toon Army

Erik Pieters and Tim KrulIf there is one Newcastle United transfer that I would put money on happening in the summer, it would be that of PSV and Holland left back . The 23-year-old Dutchman has been heavily linked with Alan Pardew’s Newcastle for some time now and his best mate in football is already a Magpie. and Pieters are best buddies on Twitter and Erik has already started supporting Newcastle!

The picture above shows Krul and Pieters together in north district and if this image isn’t replicated with the pair both wearing Newcastle United shirts next season I would be very surprised. Pieters posted it on Twitter as he wished Krul a happy 24th birthday yesterday, saying: “GM mate @TimKrul congrats with ya Bday # / You’re getting old my friend”. I’d like to echo those thoughts too, even if I am a day late.

It isn’t just birthday tweets that Pieters has been posting on Twitter, as the Holland international has also been showing his support for the mighty Magpies. During Newcastle’s Premier League match against Liverpool at St James’ Park on Sunday, Pieters cheered on the Toon and showed that he already has an affinity for Newcastle despite never having played for them, yet!

First Pieters Tweeted: “Now checking the match #newliv Go Magpies and @TimKrul #getthose3points / Already 1-0 Papiss Cisse #keepitgoing” after Cisse netted the opener. Then in the second half Eric followed that up with: “Go Magpies #newliv / 2nd Goal of Pepiss Cisse 25min left..!! #keepitgoing”. I’ll let him off misspelling Papiss second time round, he’s still got a couple of months to learn the names of his future teammates.

So, Eric Pieters is already a member of the Toon Army and hopefully he’ll become a fully-fledged Newcastle United player in the summer. One thing he might be wary of, though, is the weather, with his mate Krul posting this message earlier in the week: “Typical Newcastle .. 3 days ago sunbathing in the garden and now this haha”, accompanied by this picture…

Cracking signing if we get him & then Santon can go over to the RB pos if Simmo decided to go where the money is… hasn’t that lad learnt nothing from others who’ve left the Toon.. ie Nolan, Barton, Enrique, Bassong, Routledge & Carroll…. all paid better but not enjoying their time at their new clubs,… lol…

I agree about Routledge, he probably took a paycut to go to Swansea and I think he was relatively happy here but in the end he realised that he had limited first team opportunites

Will be interesting to see if he does sign after other clubs have shown strong interest including Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool.

If we qualify for Europe then we might just see this lad in a Toon shirt next season.
