With sitting on the Match of the Day sofa every week as a very average football pundit, it’s easy to forget how big of a Newcastle United legend he is.

The only statistic you need to know, though, is that Shearer scored 206 goals in 404 matches for Newcastle. That’s a strike rate of better than 1 in 2, which is simply unbelievable.

One footballer who is only at the very beginning of his Newcastle career, but has made an extremely promising start, is Senegal striker .

Newcastle’s current number nine Cisse has now scored five goals in six Premier League matches and if he can carry on that sort of form he’ll become a Newcastle United legend in his own right.

While Cisse’s English might not be the best right now, he is still well aware of Newcastle’s history and particularly Shearer’s enormous part in it.

Cisse told the Sunday Mirror: “I have heard all about him from everyone in Newcastle. I haven’t met Alan Shearer yet, but I know he’s a big man!”

A man mountain in fact and this is what Cisse can expect when he finally meets Shearer! At this rate it won’t be too long until Cisse is portrayed like this…
