Ahead of Newcastle’s Premier League match against Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park this evening, here a selection of stats, including ’s need for speed…

• Blackburn’s last Barclays Premier League game was a 1-1 draw with Everton.

• Morten Gamst Pedersen covered the most ground in that game with 6.32 miles.

• David Goodwillie scored a slightly fortuitous goal in that game, deflecting in Tim Cahill’s clearance.

• Goodwillie’s goal was his second in the league this season from 18 efforts at goal.

• Newcastle’s excellent start to the season continued to slip as they suffered a 5-2 defeat to Fulham in their last Premier League game.

• Jonas Gutierrez covered the most ground for Newcastle in that game with 5.51 miles, while Danny Simpson clocked the fastest top speed with 20.12 mph.

• Hatem Ben Arfa and Danny Guthrie scored for Newcastle but a Clint Dempsey hat trick was the difference between the two sides in the end.

• Hatem Ben Arfa has now contributed two goals and three assists since his return for Newcastle, and has completed exactly 100 passes in his opponent’s half.

    I would have gone for Obertan above Simpson, but I guess he didn’t play in the match in question. Ran pretty fast for his goal yesterday.
