Remember former Newcastle United winger Laurent Robert? Well the Frenchman’s brother Fabien Robert has come to these shores in the January transfer window, joining Championship club Doncaster Rovers on loan from FC Lorient until the end of the season.

It will be interesting to see if Fabien, who is 23-years-old, has a similar style of play to his older brother and can strike a ball as well as Laurent! Maybe Alan Pardew will send his scouts to the Keepmoat Stadium and see whether Fabien is worth investing in.

Laurent Robert, now 36, was a great player for Newcastle. He played over 100 times for the Magpies in the Premier League and scored 30 goals, at least 29 of which were absolute stunners.

Few Newcastle players have had as good a left foot as Robert, as he demonstrated on numerous occasions, and it was huge shame when he fell out with Graeme Souness as he still had plenty to offer the Magpies at the time.

After his Newcastle exit in 2005, Laurent Robert’s career went downhill pretty rapidly, as spells with Portsmouth, Benfica, Levante and Derby County came and went pretty quickly. Robert even tried the MLS with Toronto, but he soon returned to Europe and Larissa, before calling it quits in 2009.

How Robert only won 9 caps for France is anyone’s guess, but I’ll still remember him fondly for his time at Newcastle.

Laurent’s brother Fabien coming to England is a great excuse if I needed one to show some of Robert’s best bits for Newcastle. Enjoy…
