Newcastle duo in uncomfortable surroundings

While Newcastle’s trip to Tenerife is anything but a jolly, the players are enjoying a bit of down time between training and sessions in the gym. Yesterday some of the Newcastle squad went to play tennis, with and two of the players taking to the court.

They’ve obviously seen Andy Murray in the Australian Open and thought that they should get some practice in before Wimbledon comes round in the summer. Ameobi and Williamson clearly both have the height to make their serves a weapon, but from the image below it looks like Shola has a far better technique.

Which Newcastle United players do you think have all the attributes to be good tennis players? On the clay courts of Tenerife, surely you’d have to put your money on Argentinian Jonas Gutierrez. Also, who do you think won the match between Shola Ameobi and Mike Williamson? I’m going for Ameobi in straight sets!

Good Lord, Shola’s wearing cleats on clay. Might be the end for that court.

Ha didn’t even notice that. Definitely a fine headed Shola’s way!
