The Tim Krul imposter at Liverpool

has been one of the standout performers for Alan Pardew’s Newcastle United this season. The Dutch goalkeeper has been on top form throughout the 2011/12 Premier League campaign thus far, a fact that was illustrated against Manchester United at Old Trafford last weekend. He has made the number one shirt his own at Newcastle and is already regarded as one of the best ‘keepers in the division. However, it appears that he has an imposter at Liverpool…

arrived at Anfield in the summer, but his appearances thus far for Liverpool have largely been limited to the Carling Cup, with Premier League games at a premium for the Uruguayan. However, although we’ve only seen a quick glimpse of Coates, one thing’s for sure, his resemblance to Krul is astonishing.

OK, astonishing might be pushing it a bit, but they certainly look alike. They are yet to be seen on the same pitch together, with Newcastle not due to travel to Anfield to play Liverpool until the end of the year on December 30th. If they were to pose for a photo together it might look a little bit like the picture below (Tim Krul is on the left, just in case you were wondering).

What do you think about the resemblance, and are there any other Newcastle lookalikes that spring to mind?
