Newcastle United head to the Reebok Stadium on Boxing Day to face Bolton Wanderers, looking to end a run of six games without a win in the Premier League. Here are some match stats ahead of Bolton v Newcastle…

• Bolton secured a vital win over Lancashire and bottom of the table rivals Blackburn in their last Barclays Premier League fixture.

• Mark Davies and Nigel Reo-Coker scored in that fixture, and the two are consistently among Bolton’s top performers for distance covered with 61.69 miles and 92.68 miles covered so far this season, respectively.

• In the game against Blackburn it was Davies who covered the most distance with 5.84 miles ahead of Reo-Coker with 5.78 miles.

• Martin Petrov delivered eleven crosses against Blackburn, the highest number of any player in the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index in the last round of games.

• Ivan Klasnic remains the most accurate shooter in the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index, when comparing players who have had more than 20 attempts at goal with 81% on target.

• Chris Eagles ranks third in the shots on target ranking with 78%, making Bolton one of the teams most likely to test the goalkeeper.

• A late strike form Paul Scharner meant defeat for Newcastle in their last Barclays Premier League game against West Brom.

• Cheik Tiote covered the most ground for Newcastle in that game with 6.63 miles, just ahead of Haris Vuckic who covered 6.52 miles in his first start for Newcastle.

• Demba Ba scored both Newcastle goals taking his total in the Premier League so far to 13 from 44 attempts and with 64% on target.

• Newcastle’s injury struck defence have been having a tough time, although young defender James Perch has won 79% of tackles attempted and contributed 11 clearances and 18 interceptions since stepping in.

• Davide Santon has also impressed and has contributed 23 interceptions in his four games for Newcastle so far this season.
