Ba is good, but here’s why Bayer star is better!

Image for Ba is good, but here’s why Bayer star is better!

After a slow start to his Newcastle career, Demba Ba is now up and running and on the goal trail with 4 in 2 in the Premier League, following up his hat-trick against Blackburn with a first half header against Wolves. Alongside Leon Best, Newcastle have two strikers who seemingly have a knack of finding the back of the net. However, that doesn’t mean that the Magpies won’t still be on the lookout for a new forward in January.

One man Newcastle were linked to in the summer was Eren Derdiyok. The 23-year-old has already played for Switzerland 34 times and despite only scoring 3 times, has a decent record in the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen. Whether Alan Pardew goes back in for Derdiyok in January remains to be seen, but goals like his last one will only add to his value.

Ba may have made the MOTD Goal of the Month list with his first strike against Blackburn, but hee’s a possible goal of the season by contender by Eren Derdiyok in the 65th minute of the Bayer Leverkusen vs VfL Wolfsburg game…

One goal doesn’t make him a better striker than Ba.

Looking at their stats on wikipedia it reads as follows:

    Ba’s league games: 153
    Ba’s league goals: 78

    Derdiyok’s league games: 169
    Derdiyok’s league goals: 57

    I rest my case.

From what I’ve seen of him I don’t really fancy Derdyok.
Would much prefer Cisse (or at the least Maiga).

Ba and Best have started great but we defo need a least 1 other goal scorer at Newcastle (not just a CF), I don’t think this lad will bang us 20 goals a season!!.
He does offer us something different up front tho and if he can get 10-15 a season may be worth it, don’t know how much they want for him tho.
Maiga has started very well again and he’s shown great character after throwing his toys and going on strike, to come back and show his worth on the pitch… and at a report 7m ish would be a very good buy.
I’m a big fan of Agbonlahor at Villa, a real work horse, with pace and power and can create goals as well score them but reckon his price tag would take him well out of our radar.
Whilst on transfers I really hope they are looking hard a players who’s current contracts run out at the end of the season, could be some cheeky deals to be done there as well
