Once again a Visa has proven to be the root of all evil for yet another Newcastle player.

Cheik Tiote had to fly to Ghana after the Columbus Crew match, heading for the Ivory Coast Embassy based in Accra, to try to resolve the issue with his Visa. This means he will not be ready for the Leeds game on the upcoming Sunday but should be ready in time for the Fiorentina match.

Yohan Cabaye, Nile Ranger and the infamous Joey Barton were all denied access to the USA due to issues with their Visas.

Nile Ranger and Joey Barton were denied due to their violent history. Joey Barton was charged with assult in 2007 following his attack on Manchester City player Ousman Dabo.

Nile Ranger’s career was almost over before it began, whilst playing for the club he was sentenced to 11 weeks in a Young Offender’s Institute for his part in an armed street robbery in Muswell Hill committed before signing for Southampton.

Yohan Cabaye however had only a minor technicality in his Visa, but it was enough for border security to say no, which had him turning around at the airport to head over to Holland instead.

All three players played for Beardsley with the reserves and performed quite well. Most notably Barton, who managed to notch in two goals during the 3 games in Holland.

This means four first team players have had issues with their Visas which in turn has forced long haul flights to different countries, and not being able to play opposition worthy of their talents, arguably. I take it that this is something that should have been easily avoided. This puts Pardew’s pre-season in quite a mess, where he should have been experimenting with new tactics and formations, but instead has had to rely heavily on young guns instead. Along with the Visa issues, Ryan Taylor, Hatem Ben Arfa and Danny Guthrie have had their pre-season ruined due to injuries.

Surely, Pardew is on head hunting business around the building for the person responsible to go over the players’ Visas.
