Shefki Kuqi has said he’s shocked to be joining Newcastle, so how do you think the Toon Army took the news? Following the departure of Andy Carroll to Liverpool in the January transfer window and the injury picked up by Shola Ameobi, we all knew Alan Pardew was on the lookout for a new striker, but I didn’t think he’d have to scrape the barrel this much to get one. Anyway, Kuqi’s arrived at St James’ Park, but the question is will he be able to make an impact at Newcastle, or put another way; will Shefki To Cook Up A Storm Or Will Kuqi Crumble On Tyneside?

Kuqi’s been talking to Sky Sports about his move to Newcastle and this is what he’s had to say: “I got a phone call from my agent last week who said there might be a possibility to go there [Newcastle] and when I heard this I was over the moon. In the beginning it was hard to believe, but in the end it all came true. I don’t really have the words to describe how happy I am. To get this chance is a massive thing for me. I am just happy to be here now and I can’t wait to start and hopefully try to do the best I can for Newcastle United.” So Kuqi is up for the challenge, but how do you think he’ll fare?

Shefki Kuqi is even money with bet365 to score two or more Premier League goals for his new club Newcastle after his surprise move to Tyneside. bet365 spokesman Steve Freeth “It’s a head-scratcher to know how much Kuqi will figure in Alan Pardew’s plans.” Whether the Finland international will get a run out against his former club Blackburn this weekend remains to be seen, but if he does you can get odds of 9/1 for him to score first, or 11/4 for him to score anytime!
